IMPOTENCE TREATMENT, CURE, MEDICATION & THERAPY

As a matter of fact, impotence or erectile dysfunction is quite common all over the world affecting as many as 20% of men. It’s OK for every man to have difficulty with erection occasionally. But when this happens time after time and becomes a regular difficulty (chronic impotence) it’s time to do something about it.
Although medical science hasn’t come up with a permanent “cure” for impotence, a number of very effective therapies are available. The majority focuses the penis blood flow increasment.
  • Drug therapy.
Drugs like Viagra, Levitra and Cialis work to increase blood flow to the penis. There are drugs that work on the mental or nerve-transmitting part of impotence, to improve the brain communication to the penis.
Of course, the above drugs are not panacea as there’s no medication that works for everybody, but it is effective in as many as 76% of cases which is quite high a figure. Against painful and embarrassing procedures (injections, surgery, and others) used until recently to treat sexual dysfunction the pills popularity is quite understandable.
  • Penile implants.
A surgeon places a small, saline-filled medical device – totally concealed – that recreates the erectile function. When the man desires an erection, this device transfers fluid to the penis. No sexual stimulation needed, all just pressing a button. Despite of pain and problems related to body tolerance this procedure is accepted by patients as one of the highest satisfaction rates solution.
  • Vacuum erection device.
Vacuum devices work by manually creating an erection. The man puts a plastic tube over his penis and creates a vacuum by pumping the air out. The vacuum draws blood to his penis. This makes it erect. He then places an elastic band around the base of his penis to maintain blood in the penis and keep it firm. Vacuum devices work best in men who are able to achieve partial erections on their own.
  • Injection therapy (self injection).
This kind of therapy works on blood fluid too. The man injects medication into the side of his penis. The medication makes the blood vessels widen. As blood vessels widen or “dilate,” blood flow increases to create an erection that lasts from 30 minutes to several hours. No more than once every 4 to 7 days, repeated injection may cause scarring of erectile tissue.
  • Urethral suppository.
It may be an alternative to injection, with no needle. The man inserts a soft pellet of medication into his urethra. His penis absorbs the medication. Blood flow increases, creating an erection.
  • Psychotherapy.
Whether ED has a physical cause or not, a man may benefit from therapy that teaches him how to reduce his anxiety about sex.
